Adam Purcell scored an unassisted goal with 6:03 left in the
first sudden death overtime as host University of New
Hampshire dashed the Blue Hens' playoff hopes with a 2-1
America East men's soccer victory.
The Hens fell to 8-7-1, 4-5 America East, and were
eliminated from the four-team America East playoff field.
New Hampshire kept its hopes alive, improving to 7-8-1,
4-4.
Purcell scored two goals on the day, starting the scoring
off a feed from Andy Karam with 13:12 left in the first
half.
Delaware evened the score on a goal by Michael Bunting
off an assist from Ray Chamberlin with 3:39 left
in the game.
The Hens outshot UNH 22-12 but Wildcat goalkeeper Ethan
Holmes stopping six shots. Delaware goalkeeper Joaquin
Hurtado posted eight saves for the Hens.
