Van Deusen Places Fourth in 1-Meter; Larks Eighth in 3-Meter for Blue Hens

 

NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware junior Julie Van Deusen posted her second straight top five finish by placing fourth in the one-meter dive and junior Lavar Larks was eighth overall in the three-meter event at the second and final day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Diving Championships Saturday at Delaware's Rawstrom Natatorium.

Boston University divers swept both titles on Saturday as Stacey Gallagher won the one-meter women's event with 265.85 points and Victor Paguia won the men's three-meter event with 459.40 points. Both earned their respective Meet Outstanding Diver awards as Gallagher won both the one and three-meter events and Paguia won the three-meter and was second in the one-meter.

Van Deusen, who was third in Friday's three-meter competition, was fourth in the one-meter Saturday with 219.25 points. Gallagher won the event with 265.85 points followed by Rhode Island's Ashley Good and Boston College's Katelyn Cox. A total of 26 divers competed.

On the men's side, Larks (Mt. Pleasant/Wilmington, DE) had his second top 10 finish of the meet after placing sixth in the one-meter event on Friday. Larks totalled 339.40 points in the three-meter. Paguia totalled 459.40 points to take first place followed by Rider's Rob Baier, Marist's Michael Guman, New York University's Baron Poitier, Bucknell's Adam Freeman, UMBC's Dustin Boone, New York University's Joe Grey, and Larks. Freeman won Friday's one-meter competition.

Larks and Van Deusen will continue competition at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships at the U.S. Naval Academy March 15-16.
