 SOMERS, WI -- The University of Delaware men’s swimming and diving team was ranked 6th among all Division I Mid-Major programs as selected by CollegeSwimming.com.
The rankings are based on each team's best dual meet lineup as judged and submitted by participating teams. The poll is announced four times throughout the season and entries are due on November 14 (Pre-Invite), December 20 (Post-Invite), February 6 (Pre-Conference), and March 6 (Post-Conference).
The Blue Hens currently sport a 5-1 record, including a 2-1 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. They swept their last dual meet against La Salle and Rider, while they have gone 3-1 during individual meets this season.
Delaware is led by Grady Carter, who has won a team-leading seven individual competitions this fall. He has placed first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events twice this season, while he also has two first-place finishes in the 200 IM and one in the 200 free.
Andrew Zinn has also helped pace the Hens, winning five individual competitions this year. He has posted three victories in the 50 freestyle, including a record-setting 20.62 time against George Mason in the season opener.
Freshman Matt Wehrman and junior Matt Abbruzzese (above) have also won four events this season, while junior captain John Ohlhaver has finished first in three backstroke events.
In the CollegeSwimming.com rankings, Navy was the top-ranked team, earning 183.48 points. Missouri State finished second, while Western Kentucky, Wright State, and UC-Irvine rounded out the top-five.
Fellow CAA members Old Dominion and UNC-Wilmington also earned top-10 rankings, while Towson was selected 15th overall.
The Blue Hen swimming and diving teams conclude their fall season with the H2Ounds Invitational hosted by Loyola on November 30-December 1. Delaware will then resume its schedule on January 5 when the Hens host Towson at 1 p.m.
