RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware senior Andrew Zinn captured the Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week award for the third time this season after leading the Blue Hens to a 171-127 victory over William & Mary at the Adair Gymnasium and Recreation Center last Saturday.

Zinn (Wilmington, DE / McKean) won four events during the meet, highlighted by his record-setting victory in the 50-yard freestyle. During the event, he finished in 20.56, which set a new pool record.

It was the second time this year that he broke a pool record after previously setting the mark in the 50 free at the Rawstrom Natatorium. He also set a new school record in the same event with a time of 20.44 against Towson. He now holds the top-seven times in the competition in school history.

Against William & Mary, Zinn also won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.11, marking the third fastest time in the CAA this season. Later, he swam the anchor leg on the 200-yard medley relay team that won its event in 1:36:36 and the 400-yard freestyle relay squad that finished in 3:08.62.

On the year, he has now won 33 events, including 19 individual competitions.

In his career, Zinn has won six CAA Swimmer of the Week awards, including two last year. Named the 2006 team Most Valuable Player by the UD Alumni Association, he is a ten-time top-10 finisher at the CAA championships, including a fourth-place finish last year in the 100-yard freestyle.

It is the fifth weekly award for the Delaware swimming and diving teams this year. Along with Zinn’s first two awards on November 11 and January 8, Grady Carter and Maryann Walker were also honored as the CAA Swimmers of the Week on October 27.

In addition to Zinn, the CAA also honored Old Dominion's Noah Scully as the men's Diver of the Week and April Barrientos as the women's Swimmer of the Week. Drexel’s Kate Hynes was named the women's top diver as well.

The Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to the pool for the CAA Championship meet at George Mason on February 27-March 1.
