RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware standout Grady Carter earned his second Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week award this season after leading the Blue Hens to a convincing victory over Widener in the team’s last regular season meet on Wednesday.

Against the Pride, Carter won three events and set a pool record while leading Delaware to a 149-94 victory that gave the men their 11th victory of the season, tying the all-time single-season record.

Carter opened the meet by swimming the first leg on the team’s victorious 200-yard medley relay squad that finished in 1:37.67. Later, he returned to the pool to win back-to-back individual events.

In the 50-freestyle, Carter set the pool record after touching the wall first in 21.16. During the very next event, the sophomore from Newark, Del. posted a season-best time in the 100-freestyle when he clocked in at 47.48.

On the season, Carter holds the team’s top time in the 50-freestyle and 100-backstroke, while he has also served as a member on Delaware’s top 200- and 400-freestyle and medley relay squads.

During his career, Carter has now won three CAA Swimmer of the Week awards after capturing one as a freshman and two this year. He also won two conference titles last season after helping guide the victorious 200- and 400-freestyle relay teams at the championship meet.

The honor is the seventh weekly award for the Blue Hens this season. Along with Carter’s two awards, Hans Gillan was named the Swimmer of the Week on three occasions, while Matt Abbruzzese earned the weekly diver award twice.

Along with Carter, the conference office named George Mason’s Ryan Metzker as the Diver of the Week, while William & Mary’s Katie Radloff was honored as the women’s top swimmer. James Madison’s Nicole Jotso rounded out the weekly award-winners after earning the women’s Diver of the Week honor.
