NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware swimming and diving teams pieced together a dominating performance against Drexel as the women defeated the Dragons, 212-81, while the men recorded a 180-114 victory during their Colonial Athletic Association meet on Saturday afternoon at the Rawstrom Natatorium.
Fittingly, Hans Gillan (at right) led the way on Senior Day as the veteran speedster posted record-setting times in three events for the men. On the women’s side, Erinne Butler, Aubrey Caldwell, and Sarah VanDoren helped guide the Blue Hens as all three standouts won a pair of individual events.
Gillan won two individual titles and a relay event during the meet. In the 100-backstroke, he finished first and set a pool record with a time of 50.18 before also earning the top spot in the 100-fly after placing in 49.43. He also opened the meet by teaming with Craig Young, Ross Buckwalter, and Grady Carter to grab the 400-medley relay as the foursome finished in 3:26.56.

For the women, Butler swept the sprint freestyles as she sped to a victory in the 50-yard event with a time of 24.42 before taking the 100 in 54.06. Caldwell also touched the wall first twice as she took the 200-free in 1:56.30 and the 200-backstroke in 2:08.68.
