NEWARK, Del. -- Five home meets at the Harry Rawstrom Natatorium and visits to the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers and the United States Swimming Short Course Nationals highlight the 2010-11 University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving schedules announced Wednesday by head coach John Hayman.

The Blue Hens, who will open the season with the annual Blue-White Intrasquad Scrimmage Oct. 2, will take part in 13 events during the season, including competition vs. Colonial Athletic Association opponents George Mason, James Madison, UNC Wilmington, Towson, Drexel, Northeastern, and William & Mary.

Hayman, now in his 22nd season at the helm of both Blue Hen teams, led the UD men to a 12-3 dual record and a third place CAA championship finish a year ago while the Delaware women went 10-5 in duals and posted a seventh place CAA finish. Hayman has led the UD women to nine straight winning seasons while the men have posted four straight winning campaigns.

The Hens will open the year with three straight home meets, taking part in the annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad Scrimmage Oct. 2 followed by tri-meets with Seton Hall and Georgetown on Oct. 9 and vs. George Mason and James Madison on Oct. 16.

Delaware will hit the road and take part in a CAA Pod Meet with host UNC Wilmington, Towson and George Mason on Nov. 6-7 followed by another home tri-meet against LaSalle and Rider on Nov. 13. Delaware will then close out 2010 at the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers on Nov. 19-21 and the US Swimming Short Course Nationals at Columbus, Ohio on Dec. 2-4.

Delaware will begin the new year with Florida training and competition Jan. 2 followed by road events at Towson on Jan. 8, at Drexel with Northeastern on Jan. 15, and at Widener on Jan. 26.

The Hens will close out the regular season at home Jan. 29 vs. UMBC and William & Mary where they will honor the team’s seniors. The season concludes Feb. 23-26 at the CAA Championships at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
