At Delaware: 2008-09 Season: Completed the 200-breaststroke in 2:19.81 during the tri-meet with LaSalle and Rider • also finished the 200-IM in 2:11.27 during the same competition • competed in the 100-breaststroke as well.

High School: Two-sport athlete at Montgomery Blair High School • four-year letterwinner in swimming and two-year letterwinner in volleyball • swam the breast stroke under head coach David Swaney • led team to division championship in 2007 • Metropolitan swimming championship finalist in 2006, 2007 and 2008 • honor student.

Personal: Edward Tang Qian • son of Jiahua Qian • has one younger sibling, Rolane • chemical engineering major at Delaware • worked as a swimming coach over the summer • went to see the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
