Hens Tune-up for Florida Trip With Win Over Bucknell


LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of Delaware men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 4-3 non-league victory over host Bucknell Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Hens, who downed the Bison for the first time since 1997, improved to 6-7 with the victory. Delaware will begin its annual spring trip to Florida with a match at St. Leo on Monday.

After losing the doubles point after being swept in all three matches, the Blue Hens rallied for the win by taking four of the six singles matches.

Winning in singles for the Blue Hens were Chris Johnson at the No. 1 spot, Lee Kennedy at No. 3, David Mouber at No. 4, and Myron Schwarcz at No. 6.

Kennedy rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Scott Allen at the No. 3 spot and Schwarcz rallied for a 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 win over Ira Brownstein at the No. 6 spot.

Kennedy improved to a team-best 8-3 with his third straight singles victory of the season.
