October 17, 1999 Delaware Field House Courts
NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware and Howard University split a non-league tennis match Sunday at the Delaware Field House Indoor Courts. The Blue Hen men (2-4) defeated Howard 5-2 while the Howard women downed Delaware 5-3, snapping the Blue Hens' 11-match regular season winning streak. The UD women (6-1) closed out the fall season with the match, which started outside but was moved indoors when rain begain. For the Delaware men, Sean Kelly, Lee Kennedy, Jesse Leopold, and Myron Schwarz all picked up victories as did the doubles teams o f Kennedy and David Mouber and Leopold and Schwarcz. On the women's side, the two teams split the six singles matches but Howard swept the two doubles matches to pick up the victory. Kristin Wasniewski, Erin Kamen, and Martine Street all posted singles victories for the Blue Hens. Wasniewski and Kamen remained unbeaten in singles with records of 7-0.
