Mouber, Schwarcz Pick Up Singles Wins for Hens


NEWARK, DE - Towson won four of the six singles matches and swept in doubles play to post a 5-2 men's tennis victory over host University of Delaware Thursday afternoon at the Delaware Field House Courts.

The Blue Hens, who lost their second straight match, fell to 9-9 on the season, including a 1-3 mark vs. America East foes. The Hens were playing their first match since returning from their annual spring trip to Florida. Delaware will take on St. Joseph's Saturday.

Delaware picked up just two wins on the day as David Mouber (Moorestown Friends/Mt. Laurel, NJ) posted a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Trey Ragase at the No. 3 spot and Myron Schwarcz (Upper Dublin/Maple Glen, PA) survived a marathon match with the Tiger's Matt Fish with a 7-6 (7-5 tie breaker), 7-6 (9-7) victory at the No. 5 spot.

Mouber upped his singles record to 9-8 on the season while Schwarcz improved to 7-5.

In other singles matches, Towson's Erik Horine downed Sean Kelly at No. 1, Bryan Rowland downed Delaware's Lee Kennedy at No. 2, Josh Hamilton bested Delaware's Jesse Leopold at No. 4, and Dan Ilie defeated the Hens' Pat Seitz at the No. 6 slot. The Tigers also swept the three doubles matches to capture the doubles point.
