Hens Run Win Streak to Five by Dominating Singles Play


LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. -- The University of Delaware men's tennis team ran its winning streak to five matches Thursday night with a 6-2 non-league victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The Blue Hens won five of the six singles matches and improved to 9-7 on the season, including a 3-0 mark as part of the their annual spring trip to Florida. The Hens will close out the trip Friday at Stetson in DeLand, Fla.

Picking up singles wins for the Hens were Chris Johnson at No. 1, Sean Kelly at No. 2, Lee Kennedy at No. 3, David Mouber at No. 4, and Myron Schwarcz at No. 6. Delaware No. 5 player Jesse Leopold was up 6-3, 2-6, 6-5 on Eric Rollinger before a light failure. The match was declared a draw.

In doubles, the Hens won just one match with the No. 1 team of Johnson and Kelly defeating Tom Habowitz and Ted Bradley, 8-4.
