NEWARK, DE - In its final
tuneup in preparation of this weekend's Colonial Athletic
Association Tournament, the University of Delaware men's
tennis team claimed its fourth straight victory with a 6-1
win over Towson at the Delaware Field House Courts
Monday.
The Blue Hens (10-6, 4-0 CAA) will find
out later this week where they stand in the seedings for the
CAA Tournament, which will be held Apr. 19-21 at Richmond,
VA. The winner of the tournament earns an automatic berth
into the NCAA Tournament.
Delaware captured five of the six singles
matches as John Tully won at No. 2, Robert
Wirth at No. 3, Dustin Lewis at No. 4, and
David Mouber at No. 5. Mouber, who won his sixth
straight match, played in his 69th career singles match, one
shy of the school record. Four of the six matches went three
sets.
In doubles play, Delaware got victories
from Sanjay Khindri and Tully at the No. 1 spot and
from Lee Kennedy and Mouber at the No. 3
flight.
Lewis and Tully each won their team-high
14th singles win of the season for the Blue Hens while
Mouber and Lee Kennedy improved to 25-17 all-time as a
double team.
