September 28, 2003 Hens Capture Four Singles Victory for First Win of Season LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of Delaware men's and women's tennis teams split a pair of non-league matches Sunday afternoon with the UD men posting a 4-3 win and the Blue Hen women falling 6-1. The Delaware men ran their dual match record to 1-1 with the victory over the Bison (1-1) as the Blue Hens won four of the six singles matches. The Delaware women fell to 0-1 as Bucknell (3-0) captured all but one of the nine matches. Both Delaware teams will host West Chester this week with the women hosting the Rams Sept. 30 and the men taking on the Rams at home Oct. 1. In the men's match, Delaware got singles matches from John Tully (Sutherland/Pittsford, NY) at No. 1 singles, Sanjay Khindri (Emmaus/Macungie, PA) at the No. 2 spot, Adam Liebman (Staple/Westport, CT) at the No. 3 spot, and Mike Riisen (Conestoga/Wayne, PA) at No. 4. Bucknell swept the three doubles matches to earn that point. Tully ran his record to 5-0 on the season. In the women's match, Delaware captured its only victory at No. 2 singles where freshman Elizabeth Perlow (Lawrence/Island Park, NY) posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Tanya Sichko. Bucknell's Veronica Brown downed Delaware's Marissa Singer (Bayonne/Bayonne, NJ) 6-0, 6-2 to post her 50th career singles victory, tying the Bucknell school record. AGATE: Delaware def.
