Ditman Improves to 13-5 as Hens Lone Singles Winner

NEWARK, DE - James Madison University swept the University of Delaware in a pair of Colonial Athletic Association men's and women's tennis matches Saturday on the UD campus.

The JMU men defeated Delaware 5-2 at the Delaware Field House Courts while the Dukes women upended the Blue Hens 6-1 at the Carpenter Sports Building Courts, snapping a three-match win streak by UD.

The Blue Hen women (7-9, 4-1 CAA) had a three-match win streak snapped and lost to a CAA opponent for the first time this season. Delaware had won eight straight regular season matches vs. the CAA since a loss to UNC Wilmington last season.

Senior Jessica Wilkes (Nazareth/Bethlehem, PA) was in on both victories for the Hens as she defeated Margie Zesinger 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4) at the No. 1 spot to win her eighth straight match and improve to 15-5 on the season. The win was the 50th singles win of Wilkes' career, making her only the sixth player to accomplish the feat in Blue Hen history. She also teamed with Beth Principe for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.

The Delaware men fell to 10-13 overall and 3-5 in the CAA heading into this weekend's CAA Team Championships at Richmond, VA. The Hens got their only singles win from Josh Ditman (Cheshire/Cheshire, CT) at the No. 5 spot where the freshman downed Colin Malcolm 7-5, 6-3 to improve to a team-leading 13-6 this season.

The Hens won the doubles point by capturing two victories as John Tully and Robert Wirth teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 1 and Sanjay Khindri and Ditman teamed for a 8-6 victory at the No. 2 spot.
