Khindri, Ditman Win
in Hen Loss
COLLEGE PARK, MD - Host
University of Maryland swept the three doubles matches and
won four singles matches in straight sets in downing the
University of Delaware 5-2 in a non-league men's tennis
match Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Hens fell to 6-6 on the season
and will next see action March 13 at Lafayette.
Delaware captured two victories on the
day as junior Sanjay Khindri (Emmaus/Macungie, PA)
posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Troy Demers at the No. 2 singles
spot and freshman Josh Ditman (Cheshire/Cheshire, CT)
was a 2-6, 7-6, 11-9 winner over Scott Baxter at the No. 6
position. Ditman improved to 6-2 on the season with the
victory.
In the other singles matches, the
Terrapins' Chris Chiu downed Delaware's John Tully
7-5, 6-4 at No. 1, David Reichsfeld defeated Robert
Wirth 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot, Scott Peters downed
the Hens' Dustin Lewis 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, and Pierce
Rudder was a 6-2, 6-3 victor over Adam Liebman at the
No. 5 spot.
Delaware lost all three doubles match,
just falling short at the No. 2 spot where the team of
Khindri and Ditman lost a 9-8 verdict to Demers and
Reichsfeld.
