Blue Hens Fall to
Old Dominion in VCU Finale
RICHMOND, VA -- The University
of Delaware men's tennis team dropped its third and final
match of the Virginia Commonwealth Invitational Sunday with
a 5-0 loss to Colonial Athletic Association for Old Dominion
at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.
The Blue Hens, who lost to East Tennessee
State and host VCU by identical 5-0 scores on Saturday,
evened their record at 5-5 on the season. Delaware will
return to action March 1 at Lehigh.
The Monarchs, who went 3-0 in the
tournament, won three of the matches vs. Delaware in
straight sets as Zoltan Csanadi downed Delaware's John
Tully 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles spot, Salman
Mohammed defeated Dustin Lewis 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3
singles, and the team of Calin Milos and Patrik Binkowski
upended the Hens' team of Josh Ditman and Ari
Zweig 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Delaware lost two close matches as
Sanjay Khindri fell to ODU's Izak van der Merwe 6-4,
3-6, 10-8 at No. 2 singles and Adam Liebman dropped a
6-3, 5-7, 10-3 verdict to Adriana Mello at the No. 4 singles
flight.
