Tully, Khindri Wins
at Singles for Blue Hens

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of
Delaware got victories from the top two singles spots, but
dropped the other four in falling to host Saint Joseph's in
a non-league tennis match Wednesday afternoon.
Delaware's Jon Tully posted a 6-4,
6-4 win over the Hawks' Frank Velazquez at No. 1 singles and
the Blue Hens' No. 2 singles player Sanjay Khindri
was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Jimmy Holland but it wasn't
enough as the Hens lost their second straight match to fall
to 7-8.
Saint Joseph's, which won three singles
matches in straight sets, improved to 6-5 with their second
straight victory. The Hawks won the only doubles match
played as Holland and A.J. Garabedian downed Tully and
Adam Liebman 8-0. The other two doubles matches were
halted by darkness.
Tully improved to 8-12 on the season as
he downed Velazquez (14-9) while Khindri improved to 6-9
with the win over Holland (16-10).
Saint Joseph's Van Homer Pangilinan
defeated Dustin Lewis, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3; Greg Chang
upended Liebman, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, Antonio Aniello
downed Josh Ditman, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 6, and
Garabedian was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Ari Zweig at
the No. 6 spot. Zweig's loss was the first for the Hens at
the No. 6 singles spot this season after seven straight
wins.
Delaware will continue action Saturday
when the Blue Hen men's and women's teams host Colonial
Athletic Association foe George Mason at 1 p.m.
