Blue Hens Head Into
Break With Road Victory
PHILADELPHIA -- The University
of Delaware men's tennis team posted its second straight
victory Friday afternoon as the Blue Hens handled Temple 5-2
in non-league action.
The Delaware women were also scheduled to
play Friday but their home match vs. West Chester was
postponed due to rain. The match has tentatively been
rescheduled for April 15.
The Blue Hen men improved to 9-8 in dual
action this season and won their second straight match as
they captured two of the three doubles matches to win the
doubles point and took four of the six singles
matches.
In singles play, Delaware's No. 1 player
John Tully posted a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Tyler
Winn, Delaware's Dustin Lewis was a 7-6 (7-2), 2-6,
6-4 winner over John Sy at No. 4, Adam Liebman posted
a 6-0, 6-0 win over Temple's Elad Diu at No. 5, and Josh
Ditman posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over James Logan at the
No. 6 spot. Ditman improved to 10-3 on the season, including
a 7-0 mark at No. 6.
In doubles action, Delaware got wins from
the No. 2 team of Sanjay Khindri and Ditman and the
No. 3 tandem of Ari Zweig and Patrick
Seitz.
Both Delaware teams will spend next week
in Florida with the women opening April 1 at St. Leo
followed by the men opening play April 2 at Webber College.
The men will also play at Stetson while the UD women will
also take on Webber and Embry-Riddle during the annual
trip.
