Blue Hens Sweep
Rams and Khindri and Tully Each Win 30th Career
Match
NEWARK, DE -- The University of
Delaware men's tennis team won all six singles matches in
straight sets and swept the doubles point on the way to a
7-0 non-league victory over West Chester University
Wednesday at the Delaware Field House Courts.
The Blue Hens improved to 2-1 on the
season as they downed the Golden Rams for the 13th straight
time in the series dating back to the 1987 season. Delaware
will continue action this weekend at the Towson (MD)
Invitational.
Delaware won 96 of the 103 games played
during the match, including 6-0, 6-0 shutouts in three of
the six singles matches and an 8-0 win in one of the doubles
competitions.
Posting singles victories for the Hens
were senior Sanjay Khindri at No. 1, junior John
Tully at No. 2, sophomore Josh Ditman at No. 3,
freshman Mike Riisen at No. 4, freshman Mike
Austin at No. 5, and sophomore Philip Wayne at
No. 6.
Tully (Sutherland/Pittsford, NY) remained
undefeated on the season at 6-0 and he and Khindri both won
their 30th career matches, becoming the 31st and 32nd
players in school history to reach the plateau. Tully and
Khindri (Emmaus/Macungie, PA) started the day by posting an
8-1 win at No. 1 doubles over West Chester's Keith McCaffrey
and Jimmy Orr.
Also picking up doubles wins for the Hens
were the No. 2 team of Austin and Ari Zweig and the
No. 3 tandem of Riisen and Adam
Freedenberg.
