Blue Hens Win First Match in Florida

ST. LEO, FL -- The University of Delaware swept the three doubles competitions and captured four of the six singles matches on the way to a 7-2 non-league men's tennis victory over host St. Leo College Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Hens, playing the second of their three matches in Florida this week, improved to 8-5 this season and have now won two of their last three outings.

Picking up singles victories for the Hens were John Tully at No. 2 singles, Adam Liebman at No. 3 singles, Ari Zweig at No. 5 singles, and Dustin Lewis at No. 6 singles. Tully improved to a team-leading 14-4 in singles competition this season.

The Hens swept the three doubles matches as the No. 1 team of Tully and Sanjay Khindri defeated Mike DiGiacomo and Anas Albahoud 8-1, Zweig and Josh Ditman bested David Soon and Ali Elsanani 8-4, and Jon Edwards and Philip Wayne upended the team of B.J. Grant and Adrian Nakayana.

Delaware will close out their Florida trip Thursday, March 25 at Stetson. The Blue Hen women will take on St. Leo Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
