Hen Netters Win Fourth Straight; Down

MELBOURNE,
FL -- The University of Delaware tennis
teams split a pair of matches Wednesday as
the Blue Hen men defeated Florida Tech 7-2
in action in Melbourne, FL and the UD
women fell to Stetson 6-1 in Deland, FL.
The
Delaware men improved to 8-4 with their
fourth straight win while FIT fell to 2-8.
The Hens downed FIT for the fifth straight
time. The Blue Hen women fell to Stetson
for the fifth straight time to fall to
11-3 overall this season. Stetson improved
to 12-4 on the year.
In
the men's match, Delaware won five singles
matches and two of the three doubles
matches to post the victory. Winning in
singles were Adam Liebman (right) at No.
2, Josh Ditman at No. 3, Robert Wirth at
No. 4, Jason Hanschman at No. 5, and
Jonathan Schwartz at No. 6. Hanschman
improved to 13-4 with his fourth straight
win while Ditman improved to 10-3 with his
fourth straight win.
In
doubles action, Delaware's Jesse Carl and
Hanschman improved to 10-3 with their
fourth straight win, an 8-6 win over Diego
Quiros and Christian Smith, while the
Hens' No. 3 team of Philip Wayne and Sammy
Carl downed Thariq Kara and John
Stephenson 8-0 to improve to 10-1 with
their eighth straight victory.
In
the women's competition, Delaware captured
just two matchups as Brittany Barsky
(11-5) posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over
Catlin Bateld for her fifth straight
victory and the No. 3 doubles team of Sari
Shuster and Julie Schiller combined for a
9-8 (7-5) victory over Danielle Mollman
and Bateld.
In
singles, Stetson's Mili Milovanovic
defeated Susan Pollack, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at
No. 1, Maja Miladinovic downed Liz Perlow
6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, Marina Levin downed
Sari Shuster 6-2, 6-3, Catherine Canady
posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Alexa
Dragonette 6-3, 6-1, and Danielle Mollman
defeated Katie Miller 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.
Stetson's two doubles wins came at No. 1
where Milovanovic and Miladinovic downed
Pollack and Dragonette 8-4 and at No. 2
where Levin and Canady teamed for a 9-7
win over Barsky and Miller.
The
Delaware women closed out their Florida
trip with a 1-2 mark while the Delaware
men will finish their Florida competition
Thursday at Stetson.
