Hen Men's Tennis Downs Millersville 7-0 in
Spring Opener

MILLERSVILLE,
PA -- The University of Delaware men's
tennis team resumed its season Saturday
and posted a 7-0 shutout victory over host
Millersville University.
Delaware,
competing for the first time since Oct. 25
and playing a dual match for the first
time since Oct. 9, improved to 3-0 on the
season. The Hens will next travel to
Lehigh Feb. 27.
The Blue
Hens,who met Millersville for the first
time ever in men's tennis, won all six
singles matches in straight sets as John
Tully (right) downed Millersville's Greg
Bennett 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, Adam Liebman
defeated Cliff Boyd 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2,
Josh Ditman was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over
Brandon Kessler at the No. 3 spot, Jesse
Carl posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Chris
Matisse at No. 4, Robert Wirth downed
Scott Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and Jason
Hanschman posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Evan
McConaghy at the No. 6 spot.
Delaware
also won all three doubles matches easily
as Tully and Wirth teamed for an 8-3 win
over Bennett and Boyd at No. 1, Jesse Carl
and Hanschman were 8-3 winners over
Kessler and Matisse at No. 2, and Sammy
Carl and Philip Wayne teamed for an 8-2
win over Smith and McConaghy at the No. 3
spot.
Tully
improved to a team-leading 10-3 in singles
play on the season and won his 52nd career
match, moving him into second place
all-time at Delaware past Ken Dill (51-14
in 1978-82) and Ira Bernstein (51-19 in
1995-99). Jon Zolin is Delaware's all-time
singles win leader with a mark of 57-5 in
1971-75.
Hanschman
improved to 8-2 on the season in singles
and teamed with Jesse Carl to improve to
5-1 in doubles play this year.
