WASHINGTON, DC -- The University of Delaware men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Georgetown Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Hens fall to 1-1 on the season with the loss, while the Hoyas improve to 2-0 on the year.
Delaware took the early lead by winning the doubles point, as Adam Greenberg (right) and Sam Barrer defeated Jeffrey Schnell and Kevin Walsh, 8-4, at No. 1. Andrew Blumberg and Austin Longacre then posted an 8-4 victory over Bert Baggio and Etienne Paris at No. 2 to give the Blue Hens the doubles point, while Kenneth Wong and David Tillem defeated Matthew Liebman and Camilo Perez, 8-5, at No. 3 for the Hoyas.
Schnell recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win over Greenberg at No. 1 singles for Georgetown, while Anthony Tan needed three sets to defeat Longacre 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 and Adam Gross edged Liebman 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 at No. 3.
The Hoyas’ Will Lowell defeated Barrer 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4, while Ted Tywang posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jonathan Schwartz at No. 5 and Walsh recorded a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-3 win over Perez at No. 6.
Delaware returns home Tuesday, October 10 when the Blue Hens host Saint Joseph’s in a 3 p.m. match.
