COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Delaware men’s tennis team fell to No. 56 Maryland 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Tennis Center at College Park.
The Terrapins, who have never fallen to Delaware in 12 matches, improve to 7-2 on the season, while the Blue Hens lost their sixth straight match and fall to 1-6 on the year.
Maryland’s Nicholas Frayssinoux defeated freshman Austin Longacre 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Andrew Orban topped sophomore Nolan Greenberg 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2. Scott Fink posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over sophomore Matthew Liebman at No. 3, while Nickolai Nielsen defeated freshman Sam Barrer 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4. Louis-Xavier Lavallee topped junior Jon Schwartz (at right) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5, and Michael Coleman downed freshman Camilo Perez 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
In doubles action, Boris Fetbroyt and David Kwan edged Andrew Blumberg and Longacre 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, while Frayssinoux and Orban defeated Greenberg and Jason Hanschmann 8-2 at No. 2. Fink and Lavellee completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over Perez and Leibman at No. 3.
The Blue Hens return to action March 23 when Delaware travels to Florida to take on the Florida Institute of Technology at 1 p.m.
