COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Delaware men's tennis team suffered its second consecutive shutout today at Maryland, falling 7-0 to the No. 57 Terrapins at the Tennis Center at College Park.
Delaware fell to 0-12-1 in the all-time series with Maryland, which swept the Blue Hens for the fourth consecutive year.
Junior Nolan Greenberg (at right) won the Blue Hens' only set of the day in a 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 setback to David Kwon at second doubles, while sophomore Austin Longacre dropped a 6-2, 6-2 first-singles decision to nationally-ranked Amit Inbar.
The Hens' No. 3, sophomore Sam Barrer, could only salvage one game during a 6-0, 6-1 loss to the Terps' Nickolai Nielsen, and No. 4 Chris Hincker fell to Maryland's Alex Aksanov by a 6-4, 6-4 tally. Sophomore Camilo Perez and sophomore Andrew Blumberg fared no better, dropping straight-sets matches at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Maryland rolled through doubles play with little trouble, giving up four or fewer games in each match.
The Blue Hens lost their third straight and fell to 1-3 on the season, their second straight 1-3 start.
Delaware returns to the court on Sunday, when the Hens host Lafayette at 1 p.m.
