NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware men's and women's tennis teams, coming off successful seasons that saw both squads advance to the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament, have released their 2008 fall schedules.
The men, who finished 10-7 overall and 3-1 in the CAA this season, will play a challenging slate that includes three major tournaments. The Blue Hens kick off their fall season at the Swarthmore Invitational from Sept. 13-14 before heading to the prestigious East Coast Athletic Conference Open at Lehigh from Sept. 19-21.
Delaware will host a three-day tri-match from Sept. 26-28, with the Hens' opponents yet to be determined. After an Oct. 4 visit from Villanova, UD gets its toughest test of the fall at the prestigious Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Old Dominion from Oct. 10-12.
The women, who went 12-3 this year for their best record since 1997-98, open fall play Sept. 6-7 at the Swarthmore Invitational. The Hens will welcome two unnamed opponents to the Delaware Field House courts for a Sept. 12-14 tri-match before visiting College Park, MD for the Maryland Invitational from Sept. 19-21.
After dual matches against Saint Joseph's (Sept. 29) and Villanova (Oct. 5), the women join the men at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational from Oct. 10-12. The Hens cap off their fall campaign at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals at Penn from Oct. 24-27.
