PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The University of Delaware men’s tennis team defeated Saint Joseph’s 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Junior Austin Longacre was battling with Saint Joseph’s Matt Stauble at no. 1 singles before Stauble bowed out down 2-0 in the second set. Longacre is now 7-1 on the year.

Saint Joseph’s Pat Adams defeated Delaware freshman Andre Vorobyov 7-6, 7-4 (tiebreaker), 7-5 at no 2 singles. Vorobyov fell to 5-3.

Blue Hen senior Nolan Greenberg moved up to 11th on the all-time career singles wins list with his 45th win. He came back to defeat Matt Prusade 4-6, 6-4, 10-1 at no. 3 singles and stay undefeated on the year.

Junior Sam Barrer picked up his seventh win of the year and 32nd of his career. He defeated Jeff Kessler 6-3, 6-3 at no. 4 singles.

At no. 5 singles, sophomore Chris Hincker (at right) picked up his 25th career win and sixth of the year by defeating Kevin Aquino 6-0, 7-5. Freshman Courtney Scott would get the Hens’ fifth singles win at no. 6 singles, defeating Peter Cognetti 6--2, 6-1.

In doubles play, Longacre and Greenberg defeated Stauble and Phil Bayliss 8-6. They are now 4-0 for the year, and Greenberg tied Ari Zweig (2000-2004) for second place at Delaware in career (individual) doubles wins.

Vorobyov and Barrer fell to Prusade and Adams 8-6, and fell to 2-2 on the year, but Hincker and Scott defeated Aquino and Cognetti 8-2 to give the Hens the point for doubles play. Hincker and Scott are now 3-0 on the year.
