Delaware vs. LaSalle Oct. 13, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. W 5-1
The University of Delaware men's tennis team ran
its record to 2-0 Tuesday with a 5-1 non-league
victory over LaSalle at the Delaware Field House
Courts. The Blue Hens swept the three doubles
matches and won four of the five singles matches to
post the victory over the Explorers. Posting
singles wins for the Hens were Ira Bernstein
(Concord HS) at No. 1, freshman Dave Mouber
at No. 4, Clinton Cole at No. 5, and
freshman Sean Kelly at No. 6. The No. 2
singles match between Delaware's Michael
Murray and LaSalle's Drew Elder was a draw as
the second set was never completed due to darkness.
Murray took the first set 7-6, winning a 15-13
tie-breaker. In doubles play, Bernstein and Murray
teamed for an 8-2 win at the No. 1 spot, Jordan
Biel and Jordan Reese won 8-2 at No. 3,
and Cole and Kelly won 8-1 at No. 3.
