Stetson Sweeps Delaware in Tennis

DELAND, FLA. -- Host Stetson University spoiled the University of Delaware's final match of their annual spring trip, sweeping the Blue Hens in non-league men's and women's tennis action Friday.

Stetson defeated Delaware 7-0 in the men's match while the Hatter women downed the Blue Hens 7-2. Both the Delaware men and women split their four matches in Florida. The UD men moved to 9-5 on the season while the Delaware women moved to 10-7.

Stetson won all nine matches to post the shutout over the Delaware men. Delaware's Jordan Reese at No. 5 singles and Sean Kelly at No. 6 each took their opponent to five sets before falling.

The Delaware women captured two victories as Elly Giese (National Cathedral/Washington, DC) posted a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win over Jennifer Parsons at No. 5 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Tracy Guerin and Karen Greenstein won 8-5. Giese won her 10th straight match to improve her singles mark to a team-leading 16-1 this season.

Both Delaware teams return to action Apr. 8 at home vs. Villanova.
