Netters Down St. Joseph's 7-0
NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware men's
tennis squad breezed to its second straight win with a 7-0
non-league victory over St. Joseph's Sunday at the Delaware
Field House Courts.
The Blue Hens (11-8) won all six singles matches in
straight sets and swept the three doubles matches on the way
to defeating the Hawks for the 18th straight time since
1978.
Posting singles victories for the Hens were Ira
Bernstein at No. 1, Jordan Biel at No. 2,
Clinton Cole at No. 3, Jordan Reese at No. 4,
Chris Johnson at No. 5, and Dave Mouber at No.
6. Bernstein improved to 13-7 on the season and moved his
career record to 49- 18, fifth best all-time at Delaware.
Reese improved to 7-4 on the season.
Winning at doubles were the No. 1 team of Bernstein and
Reese, the No. 2 team of Cole and Biel, and the No. 3 team
of Johnson and Jesse Leopold.
The Blue Hens return to action Tuesday when they travel
to Lafayette. While there, the Hens will also complete a
match vs. Lehigh that was suspended due to darkness on March
18.
