Delaware Tennis Sweeps St. Leo
ST. LEO, FLA -- The University of Delaware men's
and women's tennis teams swept non-league matches from host
St. Leo Wednesday afternoon.
The Delaware men (9-4) won for the fourth time in their
last five outings with an 8-1 win while the Blue Hen women
(10-6) captured a 4-3 victory.
In the men's match, Delaware swept the three doubles
matches and won all but one singles match for the
victory. Ira Bernstein, Michael Murray, Jordan Biel, Sean
Kelly, and David Mouber all picked up straight
set wins. The doubles teams of Bernstein and Jordan
Reese, Chris Johnson and Murray, and Biel and Clinton
Cole also were victorius.
On the women's side, Delaware's Erin Kamen and
Elly Giese continued to dominate in singles play.
Giese improved to 15-1 with her ninth straight win at No. 5
singles while Kamen improved to 14-2 with a straight set
victory at the No. 4 spot. Tracy Guerin also picked
up a win at No. 3 singles and teamed with Karen
Greenstein for a victory at No. 2 doubles.
The teams will conclude their four-game stretch through
Florida with a match at Stetson Thursday afternoon
