Ciliberto, a senior from Roslyn, PA (Abington HS/Essex, Md. CC), was one of 37 players named to the first, second, and third teams. The teams are selected by the USILA All-America committee made up of selected NCAA Division I head coaches. Ciliberto's honor marks the third straight year that Delaware has had an All-American selection and the seventh time in the last eight years. Delaware had four players earn All-American honors last season, including first team selection and USILA National Player of the Year John Grant. Ciliberto is just the seventh player in UD history to earn first or second team honors and just the second defensive player. A criminal justice major at Delaware, Ciliberto played just two seasons with the Blue Hens after transferring from Essex (Md.) Community College where he was the 1998 Junior College Defenseman of the Year. He made a big impact in those two seasons for head coach Bob Shillinglaw's team, leading the Blue Hens to a 14-3 record and the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999 and to a 10-6 record and the America East regular season co-title this past spring. The Blue Hens lost to Hofstra in the America East title game. This past spring, Ciliberto keyed a Blue Hen defense that ranked among the national leaders, allowing just 8.62 goals per game. The Hens held nine opponents to under 10 goals. One of the nation's most exciting defensive players, Ciliberto led the team with 78 groundballs and in faceoff wins with 64 and earned first team All-America East honors. He also scored two goals.
