Stacey Bunting-Thompson

Bunting-Thompson, who joined the University of Delaware athletics program in January, 2009 as Director of the UD Athletics Annual Fund/Blue Hen Club, was selected to assume the new position of Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations in December, 2009.

Bunting-Thompson served for nine years as a member of the athletics staff at the University of Miami (Fla.) before coming to Delaware,

In her new role, Bunting-Thompson oversees the University of Delaware Athletics Ticketing, Marketing, and Media Relations departments and continues to work closely with the Athletics Development office.

She has oversight in the areas of revenue generation activities encompassing ticket sales, customer relations, marketing, promotions, advertising, licensing, sponsorships and corporate relations, and sport information, and serves as a program administrator for men's and women's tennis and men's soccer.

She is a liaison to the UD Office of Communications and Marketing and participates on the UD Marketing Council and the UD Licensing Advisory Committee.

"We are excited to have Stacey move into this important capacity within our department," said UD Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Bernard Muir. "Her strong background in marketing and ticketing, along with the time that she has spent here working in the area of athletics development, gives her a unique perspective and she will have an immediate impact in this new role. Stacey will work to expand our outreach and enhance our Blue Hen brand and identity."

As Director of the UD Athletics Annual Fund/Blue Hen Club, Bunting-Thompson worked closely with UD Director of Athletic Development Dr. Scarlett K. Schmidt and was responsible for the overall direction and management of the annual giving program, developing and managing long range annual fundraising plans, increasing participation and involvement of donors, developing volunteer programs, and building the culture of philanthropy among students, alumni, parents, and friends of the University and its athletics program.

A native of Smyrna, Del., Bunting-Thompson earned her degree in English with a minor in sports management from the University of Miami in 1998. As an undergraduate, she worked with the Wilmington (Del.) Blue Rocks minor league baseball team as well as the Florida Marlins.

She also worked four years with the University of Miami athletic ticket office as a student and intern. She started her full time career in Athletics as Assistant Ticket Manager for the University of Miami athletics department in 1999 and served in that capacity until she was appointed Interim Director of Ticket Operations for the Hurricanes in early 2002.

Bunting-Thompson was then promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations at Miami in June 2002 and served in that role for six years before taking the position at Delaware.

While serving as an Assistant Athletic Director at Miami, she supervised an NCAA Division I athletic ticket operations unit responsible for generating critical revenue streams while serving as a liaison to the Athletic Development, Marketing and Sales areas.

Her work included coordinating advancement services for athletics donors, developing and executing sales promotions, overseeing customer service for donors and season ticket holders, account management and fulfillment for 40,000 customer accounts, managing gameday ticket operations for events, and the supervision of ticketing based on priority and donation guidelines established in conjunction with the Annual Fund office for post season events including four BCS bowls, NCAA Basketball post-season play and NCAA Baseball post-season play.

Bunting-Thompson and her husband, Bruce Thompson, reside in Newark with their sons, Bradyn and Bryce.
