Susan L. Groff enters her 15th year at the University of Delaware, continuing her role as the Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in 2010-11.

Her responsibilities include oversight of all athletic operations, team scheduling, and facility management, and she is the program administrator for field hockey, men's lacrosse, rowing, and all men's and women's cross country and track & field, and secondary administrator for women's basketball.

Her facility management responsibilities include new construction, major maintenance and
renovations as well as oversight of the Grounds Crew while her athletic operations duties include all scheduling matters of competition, all game management, and oversight of any championship or post-season play.

She serves as the Delaware Field House administrator and oversee operations, events, facilities, and drug testing, while also serving as Delaware’s senior woman administrator (SWA), coordinating athletics position searches, overseeing summer camps, and editing policies and procedures manuals.

She also coordinates student-athlete welfare and development, which has oversight of Sports
Medicine, Athletic Training, Strength & Conditioning, and Student Services for Athletes.

Groff currently serves on the NCAA Legislative Council, NCAA Peer Review Team and the Colonial Athletic Association Competition Committee in addition to her daily responsibilities.

She came to Delaware after working two years as Assistant Director of Athletics and head women’s lacrosse coach at Drexel University.

Groff earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Longwood College in Farmville, Va. in 1986 and received her master’s degree in sports administration from West Chester (Pa.) University in 1993. She is currently in the process of working on her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at UD with anticipation of completion in the spring of 2011.

While at Longwood, Groff was a standout in lacrosse and field hockey. In lacrosse, she was a four-year team Most Valuable Player, was a three-year United States Women’s Lacrosse Association All-American, played in the North-South Senior All-Star Game, and was a three-year member of the United States Women’s Lacrosse Squad. In field hockey, she was a four-year letterwinner and team Most Valuable Player as a senior.

After graduation she served as junior managerial accountant for General Medical in Richmond, Va. and was a financial analyst for Intracorp in Berwyn, PA for three years. She began her administrative career in athletics in 1991 as graduate assistant to athletics at West Chester and served there two years.

At Drexel, she served as assistant director of athletics and was responsible for scheduling, transportation, facility management, tickets, and home game management. She directed NCAA compliance for Drexel’s 18-sport NCAA Division I program. She also served as the Dragons’ head women’s lacrosse coach for two seasons during the 1994 and 1995 seasons.
