Jon Helbig enters his seventh season as equipment manager for the University of Delaware Athletics program in 2010-11.

Helbig joined the Blue Hen staff after serving as an assistant equipment manager at Widener University in Chester, Pa. in 1996-2004. While at Widener, Helbig worked with the Pioneer football, baseball, and men’s tennis teams, and coordinated gameday operations for men’s and women’s home basketball games.

Helbig worked as a student equipment manager at the University of Akron as an undergraduate from 1991-1994, and was named head student equipment manager during the 1994-95 year as a senior.

After graduating from Akron in the spring of 1995, Helbig served as a summer intern equipment manager for the Indianapolis Colts in 1995. He also worked as a team sales salesman for the All Pro Sports Center in Kent, Ohio, in 1996 before working at Widener.

Helbig is currently the Membership Chair for District 2 of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.

He resides in Gibbstown, N.J. with his wife, Heather, and daughter, Kaitlyn.
