Associate Dirctor for Annual Giving for Intercollegiate Athletics
 

athlete photoathlete photoMark Urick was named to the new position of Associate Director for Annual Giving for Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Delaware in April, 2010.

A native of Ames, Iowa and 1994 graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in journalism and mass communication, Urick previously held athletic development positions at Arizona State, Boise State, and the University of Nevada.

In his position at Delaware, Urick will coordinate all University of Delaware Athletic Fund (UDAF) Blue Hen Club activities, including annual membership drive, allocation of donor benefits, and the management of the priority points system. He will also assist donors in conjunction with the athletic ticket office in area of priority seating and serve as the primary point of contact for all Blue Hen Club member inquiries.

“Mark brings a wealth of athletics development experience to the University of Delaware,” said UD Director of Athletic Development Dr. Scarlett Schmidt. “He has demonstrated a track record of outstanding success in previous positions where schools reached all-time highs in overall annual gifts and membership. We are fortunate to have him join our staff.”

Urick began his career in athletics at Boston College where he served as operations and facilities assistant at the Chestnut Hill, Mass. school in 1998-99, assisting with all aspects of facilities management and gameday operations.

He moved to the field of athletics development in 2000 and served for two seasons as assistant development officer with the Sung Angel Foundation at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

Urick served as assistant director of the Bronco Athletic Association at Boise State University in 2002-05 where he oversaw a $1.6 million annual giving program and coordinated priority seating assignments and managed VIP ticketing areas for men’s basketball and football.

He followed that with a three-year tenure at the University of Nevada where he served as director of annual giving for the Reno-based institution in 2005-08. While at Nevada, Urick oversaw a $2.4 million annual giving program with a donor base of over 2,000.

Most recently, Urick served as a product specialist with Hy-Vee Inc., in Overland Park, Kan. where he served as a liaison to vendor delivery and sales representatives to manage product details.

Urick is also a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) in Web Application Development, a certification he earned in 2009.
