NEWARK, Del. -- The major snowstorm that hit the region Friday has forced the postponement and cancellations of several University of Delaware athletics activities this coming weekend.
The Blue Hen men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s diving, women’s indoor track and field, women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s lacrosse teams have all been affected by the changes. The University announced Thursday that all campus events would be canceled on Saturday.

Below is a list of the sports affected.
• Men’s Basketball -- The scheduled home game vs. UNC Wilmington on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 12 noon at the Bob Carpenter Center was moved to Monday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. The contest will be the first game of a doubleheader followed by the women’s game vs. George Mason. The game was originally scheduled to be televised by The Comcast Network throughout the mid-atlantic region but the broadcast has been canceled. • Women’s Basketball - The home game vs. George Mason scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7 has also been postponed to Monday, Feb. 8. will begin 35 minutes following the conclusion of the men’s game (approximately 3:30 p.m.).
• Men’s Lacrosse - Delaware’s season opener vs. Saint Joseph’s was moved up a day and was played Friday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at Finnesy Field on the Saint Joseph’s University campus in Philadelphia.
• Women’s Lacrosse - The University of Delaware Girls Lacrosse Clinic scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6 beginning at 9 a.m. has been postponed. The clinic has been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21 at 8:30 a.m. Those who have already registered will be contacted with further details.
• Men’s and Women’s Diving - The Drexel University Diving Meet scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6 in Philadelphia has been postponed. A make-up date has not been determined.
• Women’s Indoor Track & Field - Delaware will compete as scheduled at the New Balance Invitational at the New York City (N.Y.) Armory Friday and Saturday. The team was also scheduled to compete at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. on Saturday but that meet has been canceled.
• Women’s Tennis - Delaware’s spring opener at the University of Maryland scheduled for this Sunday, Feb. 7, has been postponed. A make-up date has not been determined.
