1. UD Athletics is committed to compliance with the spirit and the letter of all University, conference and national governing body (NCAA) regulations.
2. Coaching staff members are responsible for knowing and complying with the above rules. Head coaches are issued updated NCAA Manuals on an annual basis. It is the responsibility of the head coach to see that assistant coaches are knowledgeable. The NCAA Certification of Compliance Form must be signed in the Office of the Compliance Officer prior to the fall term each year by all coaching and administrative staff members.
3. Questions regarding eligibility, financial aid and compliance should be directed to the Compliance Officer. Ultimate responsibility for institutional compliance rests with the President and Director of Athletics.
4. An NCAA Compliance Committee has responsibility for oversight of compliance protocols and is comprised of representatives from the Athletics Governing Board, Admissions, Professional Agents Committee, Student Services for Athletes, Registrar's Office, Financial Aid and Athletics. This committee facilitates campus-wide understanding and adherence to NCAA regulations.
5. All coaching staff members need to familiarize themselves with the contents of the Compliance Handbook. Copies are on the web, linked to the UD Homepage, Athletics.
6. Per contractual agreement, Athletics staff, including coaches, are subject to dismissal for willful violation of NCAA rules.
7. Any known or potential violation of NCAA rules shall be brought to the immediate attention of the Compliance Officer, either by the violator as a self-report, or by the individual who discovers it. The Compliance Officer will initiate appropriate investigatory procedures and report the infraction to the NCAA, Conference and University officials as applicable.
8. All coaching staff members must be thoroughly familiar with NCAA regulations governing "extra benefits" and avoid any action which could be construed as a violation. In addition, coaches need to be vigilant to prevent violations by non-coaches, which are often unwitting and well- intended. Administrative staff and coaches need to be proactive in educating parents, alumni, boosters, etc.
