NN. OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT/ENDORSEMENTS

1. Athletics staff must keep the Director of Athletics fully informed as to the nature and extent of all professional service outside the University. Guidelines regarding such activities may be found in the Faculty Handbook and the University of Delaware Personnel Policies and Procedures section on "Personnel" on-line.

2. Per NCAA regulations, all "athletically-related" outside income must be reported annually to the Office of the Director of Athletics.

a. Prior written approval from the Chief Executive Officer is required for all athletically-related income and benefits from sources outside the institution.

b. Blanket authorization has been provided by the President for all activities up to $500 per incident. Therefore, prior written approval from the President is required only when income will exceed $500 for that activity.

c. Examples of such income include speaking engagements, camps, clinics, endorsement or consultation contracts with athletic apparel companies, radio, TV programs, etc.

3. Good taste is of paramount concern in the endorsement of a product by Athletics staff. Any product endorsement must have prior approval of the Assistant Director, Marketing or Director of Athletics and cannot be made in the name of the University.

4. Athletics staff will be permitted to teach in the Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences Program (HNES) in winter/summer sessions or regular semesters, only if

a. HNES requests them to do so to accommodate an identified need, and

b. Written approval from the Director of Athletics has been obtained.
