
1.The Office of Athletics Media Relations is administered by the Assistant Director, Media Relations.
2.Specific responsibilities of this office include:
a. Develop and implement overall sports information program, including1) Media/recruiting guides2) Releases
3) Sports Information forms
4) Seasonal sports calendars
5) Game programs
6) Statistical reports
7) Records maintenance
8) Broadcasting
9) Event staffing as deemed appropriate
b. Serve as chief representative of Athletics to media. Includes development of appropriate releases, coordination of interviews, representing Director of Athletics as spokesperson for Athletics positions and overall cultivation and development of media relations.
c. Work with Assistant Director, Marketing to review and approve all Athletics publications. Includes format, content, logos, etc.
d. Recommend expenditures of sports information budget.
e. Develop annual University reports of sports season results (Board of Trustees, Athletics Governing Board, etc.).
f. Represent Athletics, with Assistant Director, Marketing in publications policy development and enforcement.
g. Nominate, in cooperation with Assistant Director, Marketing, candidates for conference, regional, national awards/honors.
h. Assist in marketing, promotions, advertising efforts as requested.
i. Order and distribute picture plaque awards for conference championships/NCAA participation. (See "Conference Championship Awards" and "NCAA Participation/Champion Awards")
3. The Assistant Director, Media Relations will determine the number of media/recruiting guides for each sport that will be funded from the Athletics Media Relations budget. That number will be communicated to head coaches. Numbers in excess of that figure requested by head coaches will be charged to the sport programs recruiting and supplemental funds. These numbers need to be determined and final in the summer preceding the applicable year since the bid for guides is done as a single package at that time.
