GGG. STUDENT SERVICES FOR ATHLETES

1. The University of Delaware is committed to promoting both academic and athletic achievement. Toward this commitment, the Student Services for Athletes (SSA) Program assists student-athletes in making the best possible academic and personal adjustment to the University. The Student Services for Athletes Program subscribes to the life skills development model of support services, offering assistance in the areas of academic, personal, and career development, and community service. Student Services for Athletes strives to make basic student services-such as counseling, workshops, and programs-more accessible to student- athletes.

The staff of Student Services for Athletes works closely with coaches, faculty and student services personnel to help student-athletes better balance the demands of academic responsibilities with participation in athletics. In addition to its role as a direct service provider, a primary goal of the Student Services for Athletes Program is to make student- athletes aware of the various services and resources available to them at the University to help them make the best use of these services and resources. Student Service for Athletes also supervises or co-supervises the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Hens Peer Mentoring Program, and the Champs/Life Skills Program.

2. Student Service for Athletes also implements the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Hens Peer Mentoring Program, drug education through the Champs/Life Skills Program, community service programs and annually publishes, on-line, the Student-Athlete Policies and Information Guide.
