JJJ. TICKETS/PARKING/TAILGATING FOR ATHLETIC CONTESTS

1. GENERAL

a. Admission fees for home contests will be recommended by the Associate Director of Athletics, Business & External Affairs for approval. Fee increases require the approval of the Director and the President.

b. Parking fees will be charged for home football contests and may be charged for other home athletics contests as approved by the Director. Increases require the approval of the President.

c. The Marketing Associate serves as Athletics liaison for all season ticketing matters and supervises Athletics Season Ticket Services. Questions regarding tickets should be directed to this individual.

d. The Manager, Athletics Ticketing has direct responsibility for all matters relating to season ticket holders. All individual game tickets (for non-season ticket holders) are handled by Central Ticketing Services in the Bob Carpenter Center and Trabant University Center.

e. NCAA regulations regarding tickets must be strictly observed.

f. Complimentary tickets are subject to the following regulations:

1) Complimentary tickets for prospective student-athletes, as regulated by NCAA rules, should be requested from the Manager, Athletics Ticketing and need approval of the Associate Director of Athletics, Business & External Affairs.

2) All full-time enrolled UD undergraduate and graduate students at the Newark campus and in the parallel program are eligible for complimentary admission (one ticket) to all UD athletics contests except post-season and other special events which specifically preclude complimentary tickets.

3) Complimentary tickets are not provided for conference championship (Colonial Athletic Association and Atlantic 10) or NCAA postseason championship events.

a) Head coaches of teams participating in conference championships may, if they choose, allocate supplemental funds to purchase up to two tickets per player participating in the designated championship for use by family members. Verification of sufficient available funding is required from the Senior Associate Director. If funds are not available from those sources, regular sport budget funds will be approved for use. This applies to home or away conference championship events.

b) For NCAA post-season championship events (not qualifiers), Athletics will provide funding for the purchase of up to two tickets per player participating in the championship for use by family members. Pre- and post-season national invitational tournament events that provide revenue to Athletics will also qualify for treatment in this category.

4) All complimentary tickets for other purposes (marketing, etc. ) must be approved by the Associate Director, Business Affairs.

g. Tickets for away contests in football, men's and women's basketball are available from Athletics Season Ticket Office.

h. All professional scouts/agents must purchase game tickets at the current rate. No complimentary tickets or discounts may be given to professional sports representatives.

i. All box seat assignments will be approved by the Director of Athletics.

j. Communications media are provided game admittance through a pass list approved by the Sports Information Associate.

k. Tickets for prospective student-athletes are implemented by the Manager, Athletics Ticketing using parameters approved by the Director of Athletics.

l. Football and basketball team members may acquire individual game complimentary tickets as follows:

1) The number per player will be in accordance with current NCAA regulations.

2) Tickets will be administered, in accordance with the NCAA regulations, via a complimentary admission list on game days. Designated recipients must identify themselves at "Will Call" and sign to gain admission.

3) Football player tickets will be located in the general reserved ticket section.

4) Basketball player tickets will be located in the wing, chairback ticket section.

m. Complimentary tickets for away football and basketball games will be distributed as follows in priority order, "1" to "5".

1) President, Trustee Committee members, and Chair, Athletic Governing Board as requested.

2) Players on traveling squad - two tickets each.

3) Football/basketball staff-same as home game complimentary list.

4) Athletics faculty, professionals and salaried staff - same as home game complimentary list. Non-athletics staff by approval of Director of Athletics.

5) For football only, players attending game not on traveling squad, one ticket each.

NOTE: Requests for tickets not addressed by this section will be handled by the Manager, Athletics Ticketing with the approval of the Director of Athletics.

n. Volunteer coaches may not receive complimentary tickets unless they are filling a vacant position per the NCAA coaching limitations. This is determined by the Compliance Officer.

2. COMPLIMENTARY SEASON TICKETS/PARKING

Complimentary season tickets and/or parking for football and basketball may be provided as approved by the Director of Athletics within the following parameters.

a. Non UD affiliates:
1) Representatives for athletics in a local, state, regional or national level (example AGB or NCAA)

2) Retirees from Athletics

3) Friends of the University

4) Recognized charitable groups

b. UD employees not in the Division of Athletics and Recreation Services:

1) University areas that receive tickets to distribute for University purposes. All ticket disbursements need to be documented with a list of the name and purpose of the receiver of the ticket(s). Unused tickets will be returned to the ticket office with a copy of the list. Unused tickets should be returned prior to the game to enable their sale to the general public, if possible or practical.

c) Development

2) Members of the University community who have a game operations reason for being at the contest may receive one ticket.

c. UD employees in the Division of Athletics and Recreation Services:

1) Athletics personnel who receive tickets to distribute for university purposes. All ticket disbursements need to be documented with a list of the name and purpose of the receiver of the ticket(s). Unused tickets will be returned to the ticket office with a copy of the list. Unused tickets should be returned prior to the game to enable their sale to the general public, if possible or practical.

2) Athletics personnel who receive one complimentary season ticket and all other tickets will be recognized as taxable income.

a) Members of DIARS Senior Management Staff (SMS)

b) Contest operations staff (sport for which the tickets apply)

c) Head coaches for various reasons including public relations and to assist in times of emergency for security reasons, crowd control or enforcement of policies.

3. TAILGATING

a. The following wording will be printed on ticket backs and parking passes for football and describes the tailgating policy for football:

AGB 5/00

"The holder of this ticket agrees to obey all University of Delaware tailgating policies. Tailgating may take place until the scheduled kickoff time and resume for one hour after the game ends. Tailgaters who do not enter Delaware Stadium at or before game time will be required to leave UD property".

b. The following policies apply to tailgating after home contests in all UD sports, except football.

1) Coaches are responsible for coordinating any tailgating activity after their home contests. This includes securing a venue, coordination of parents, food, tables, etc. All tailgating activities must be pre-approved by the Operations Associate. It is the responsibility of the coaching staff to ensure that tailgating areas are clean of all trash and that trash is placed in the appropriate receptacles. Tailgating- related needs are not the responsibility of the Grounds crew or the Event Management staff.

2) Tailgating is NOT permitted in any of the athletics venues after contests. All venues are closed after the competition is completed. Tailgating may occur in the parking lots OR if approval is granted by the Operations Associate, inside the DFH.

3) Alcohol is prohibited at any tailgating activity in which student-athletes are present. Tailgaters are subject to the Newark City Open Container Law. This law strictly prohibits drinking alcoholic beverages in the parking lots of the University of Delaware.
