pitcher Kathleen O'Hara recorded her first
shutout of the season, pitching seven shutout
innings as fourth seeded Towson University
defeated top-seeded Boston University 2-0, in
the first game of the America East Softball
Championship at Delaware Field.

The Towson Tigers
(33-24-1) will now play the winner of this
afternoon's Hofstra University-Drexel University
game at 11 a.m. Friday. The Terriers (34-15)
face the loser of that game Friday at
1:30.
Towson senior Lisa Pollock
doubled to right field and later scored giving
Towson a one run lead in the first inning. The
Tigers later scored their other run of the game
when catcher Julia Cappelli was hit by a pitch,
and Stacey Smith who reached on a fielder's
choice scored.
Sophomore Karen Seidler led
off the seventh inning for Boston U. with a
single up the middle. Aryn Rangel pinch ran for
Seidler and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Kenya Palmer kept the rally alive singling and
advancing Rangel to third who got caught up in a
run-down between third and home completing the
Terriers chances of ending Towson's
shutout.
Although the Terriers were
shutout, they registered at least one hit each
inning. With the win, Towson recorded their 34th
win of the season, a new record in Towson
history.
Kathleen O'Hara went the
distance for Towson shutting out the Terriers
while scattering eight hits, striking out seven,
and walking zero to record her 10th win of the
season. Boston U.'s Robyn Horrick (16-9) allowed
four hits with five strikeouts, and one
walk.
