Newark, Del.- Freshman pitcher Beth Miller pitched seven full innings, allowing only two runs to earn her 14th win of the season, leading fourth seeded Towson University to a win over second seeded Hofstra University, 6-2, in the third game of the America East Softball Championship at Delaware Field.

The Towson Tigers (35-24-1) will now play the winner of game five in game six at 12 noon Saturday. The Pride (33-24) face the winner of game four, Drexel University-Boston University in game five at 4 p.m. today.

After scoring two runs in the first inning of game one on Thursday, Towson started off game three with a two run first inning. Towson senior Lisa Pollock started the inning with a walk, Michelle Cappe followed with a walk, advancing Pollock to second, Brooke Clyde recorded a sacrifice bunt, Pollock moved to third, and Stacey Smith singled to right field allowing both Cappe and Pollock to score.

Sara Foster recorded her third triple of the season tripling to right field to start the second inning for the Tigers. The wining pitcher from game one, Kathleen O'Hara serving as Towson's designated player hit a single to right, and Foster scored, giving Towson a 3-0 lead in the second inning over the Pride. Towson later scored two runs on a fielding error and a wild pitch in the fourth inning. Smith who recorded a single in the first inning, belted a triple down the right field line and Pollock who reached on a walk, scored the sixth run for the Tigers.

Hofstra's first run came in the fourth inning when senior shortstop Lindsay Sawyer tripled down the right field line, allowing Lisa Ciavardini who reached on a walk to score. The Pride recorded their second run of the game as Chris Moran who reached on a fielder's choice scored on Linsday Sawyer's groundout to third.

Beth Miller scattered two hits, in the seven innings, striking out four, and walking four in the win. Kelly Blois fell to 12-10, allowing six hits, with three strikeouts, and three walks for the Pride.
