Newark, Del.-Senior
pitcher Lori Swanson went one-for-two with a single
and pitched seven shutout innings to earn her 19th
win of the season as third-seeded Drexel University
defeated top-seeded Boston University, 1-0, in the
fourth game of the America East Softball
Championship at Delaware Field.

the tournament's top
seed.

The Drexel Dragons (33-25-1)
will now play the Hofstra University Pride in game
five beginning at 4:30 p.m. today. Boston
University was eliminated after losing 2-0 to
Towson Thursday, and 1-0 to Drexel today. The
Terriers finish the season with a 34-17 record.
Senior Jen Hulme walked and
stole second to lead off the first inning for the
Dragons. Sophomore Cassie Snow followed with a
single to center field, advanced to second on a
fielding error, and Hulme scored Drexel's lone run
of the game.
Drexel freshman Debbie Botke
went two-for-three, both singles in the second and
fourth innings for the Dragons.
Boston University's Kristin
Knesek doubled to left field in the second inning,
while Leslie Linnemeyer doubled to left field in
the third inning yet the Terriers were unable to
put a run on the board against Drexel.
Game four was the third upset
and the third shutout of the three-day
championship.
Swanson scattered four hits in
seven shutout innings, striking out 10, and walking
two, improving to 19-11. America East Pitcher of
the Year Robyn King (14-3) who finishes the season
with a 0.59 earned run average allowed six hits
with two strikeouts and two walks in the
loss.
