Newark, Del.-Freshman pitcher Alexis Alcantara pitched two thirds of an inning in relief, recording her sixth win of the season as second-seeded Hofstra University defeated third-seeded Drexel University, 3-2, in the fifth game of the America East Softball Championship at Delaware Field.

Hofstra's Sasha Blake crosses the plate in the bottom of the seventh with the game-winner.

The Hofstra Pride (34-24) will now play the Towson University Tigers in game six beginning at 12 noon Saturday. Drexel University was eliminated after losing 1-0 to Hofstra Thursday, and 3-2 to Hofstra today. The Dragons finish the season with a 33-26-1 record.

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when Pride third baseman Jessica Luna singled up the middle. Mari Shepard reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Shepard scored Hofstra's first run when Heather Brousseau drove in the RBI with a single to left field.

Lisa Ciavardini, the 2001 America East Player of the Year belted a one out triple to start the sixth inning for the Pride. Lindsay Sawyer followed with an RBI single to give Hofstra a 2-0 lead over the Dragons.

The Dragons' Debbie Botke, who went two-for-three in game four versus Boston University, reached first with a one-out single to the shortstop in the top of the seventh. Laura Tynio followed with a single up the middle to keep the Drexel rally alive. Katie Loomis answered with a single to load the bases for the Dragons. Rachel Levinson drove in Drexel's first run of the game, a one-out single over the first baseman's head scoring Botke.

Kristy Heyser walked, scoring Tynio to tie the game at 2-2. The Dragons strung together three-straight singles before Pride centerfielder LaMeka Anderson ended the Dragons' rally with a diving catch to end the inning.

With the game tied 2-2, Shepard who went one-for-three singled to shortstop to start the seventh inning for the Pride. Meaghan Almon grounded out to third base advancing Shepard to second. Sasha Blake pinch ran for Shepard, and Brousseau singled to left field driving in Blake for the game winning RBI for the Pride.

With her two-out single in the sixth inning, Alicia Good tied a Drexel school record for season hits with 62. Hofstra freshman pitcher, Shannon Luther, had a 31 inning shutout streak snapped in the seventh inning when Rachel Levinson drove in Drexel's first run of the game.

Lori Swanson, who pitched all three games in the championship series for Drexel, scattered eight hits in 6.2 innings, striking out six, with no walks. Shannon Luther fired 6.1 shutout innings, allowing seven hits and four strikeouts for the Pride before allowing the two Drexel runs.
