2005: Went 16-13 with a 1.88 earned run average in 34 appearances in the circle • threw eight shutouts, tied for second on the UD single season list • made 34 appearances and pitched 189.2 innings, both third in a single season at Delaware • tied for fourth with 16 wins and 22 complete games, and tied for fifth with 131 strikeouts • recorded saves against Bucknell and James Madison • ranked second in the CAA in strikeouts, saves, appearances, innings pitched and starts, and tied for second with 16 wins • was sixth in the league in earned run average • fired a three-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Villanova on April 20 • posted four-hit shutouts of Pennsylvania, Delaware State, and George Mason • also blanked Cornell, UNC Wilmington, Rider and Maryland.
2004: Second team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Region and first team All-CAA selection • named to CAA All-Tournament Team • named CAA Rookie of the Week on February 23 and April 12, and CAA Pitcher of the Week on March 2 and March 16 • set school single season records with 242.1 innings pitched, 41 appearances, 187 strikeouts, eight shutouts, and 28 complete games • allowed four hits and struck out seven in an eight-inning complete game 1-0 shutout of Fairfield on February 21 • scattered four hits and struck out 10 in a 2-0 blanking of George Mason on February 28 • also struck out 10 in a 1-0 complete game win over UMBC on March 11 • shut out the Patriots again on April 18, allowing four hits in a 3-0 victory • scattered four hits and struck out four in a 2-0 shutout of UNC Wilmington on April 24 • struck out eight and gave up just three hits in a 5-0 win over Towson on May 1 • went 1-for-3 with two runs scored in a 12-1 victory over Norfolk State on February 27.
High School: Named New York State Co-Player of the Year as a senior • three-time first-team all-state selection at Shenendehowa High School • also named the Section II Most Valuable Player • had 10 shutouts and a 0.16 ERA as a junior • led team to the state title as a senior • also played field hockey.
Personal: Carolynn Mary Sloat • born December 25, 1984 • daughter of Ellwood and Debra Sloat • elementary education major with a minor in history at Delaware • was a teacher’s aide with the Shaker Summer Reading Program over the summer, working with students who had learning disabilities and physical handicaps. |
