PHILADELPHIA -- Lori Swanson hurled a pair of shutouts to virtually assure her team of an America East Tournament berth as Drexel downed Delaware, 8-0 and 3-0, in America East softball action at Drexel Field Saturday afternoon.

With the wins Drexel moved to 14-7-1 in America East action and 25-21-1 overall. The Blue Hens fall into serious jeopardy of not qualifying for the conference tournament for the first time since 1992. Delaware fell to 19-22 overall and 8-14 in America East play. With Hartford and Towson each sitting in front of Delaware for the fourth and final tournament slot, Delaware likely needs to win all six of its remaining league games in order to qualify.

In the opener, Swanson struck out 10 and walked no one in firing a two-hitter. Cassie Snow went 3 for 3 with two doubles and four RBI in support of Swanson.

In the nightcap, Swanson continued her dominance, firing a three-hitter and walking one, while striking out seven. Kristy Heyser, who was 3 for 4 with three runs scored in the opener, also went 3 for 4 in the nightcap with two RBI.

Delaware's Laura Streets had two hits in the night cap.

Delaware and Drexel complete their four-game series with a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m.
