Delaware 2, Elon 1 Elon 6, Delaware 2 Unusual Wind Blowing Out Plays Havoc With Pitching Amanda Cariello NEWARK, DE -- Amanda Cariello hit the first home run by a Blue Hen at Delaware Field since 1994 in the opener and Elon's Pam Brock recorded the first multiple home run game in Delaware Field history in the nightcap Tuesday as Delaware and Elon split a doubleheader in softball action. Delaware won the opener, 2-1, while Elon took the darkness shortened second game, 6-2. With a rare wind blowing out, Cariello ripped the first pitch of the bottom of the fifth inning over the fence in left for her second home run of the season and gave Delaware a 1-0 lead. The home run was just the second by a Blue Hen at cavernous Delaware Field, where the wind usually swirls in from left to right. The only other Delaware player to homer at Delaware Field was Kristen Kayata against Penn in March 1994. Elon (8-23) tied the game in the top of the seventh on a two-out RBI triple by Emily Hall. However, Delaware won the game in the bottom frame on an RBI single by Liz Winslow that scored Lauren Mark. In the nightcap, Brock homered in the third and fifth innings to become the first player to homer twice in the same game at Delaware Field since the current 10-foot wall was installed in 1990. She finished the game 3 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Mark had three hits in the doubleheader for Delaware (6-5).
